And so the chaos begins…

Yesterday the work on my house finally started and I can’t tell you how happy I am for it to finally get going. I feel like I’ve been living with bare walls and in decorating limbo for years.

This is our first time ever decorating together, I mean before this house the most we had ever done was attempt to build some IKEA drawers and that kinda just ended with me watching Jake swear a lot. But this project has been completely different from the start and if I’m honest I don’t think me and the boyfriend have ever felt more like a team than now.

Knowing we are doing something together for our first home that we will make memories in to last us a lifetime makes everything so much more special. If only the building work was as simple as that!

It turns out we have to get a damp course done in our living room as our walks were full of rising damp and condensation, meaning the straight forward decorating job we wanted hasn’t exactly gone to plan. However, it seems we’re finally on track and by the end if this week we should have a living room with walls that can be painted and decorated as we like!

Anyway I thought I’d share some pictures of the whole process so far with your guys, here you go!

We started by taking off the old wooden rail that went around the room, as it was a bit too old fashioned for mine and Jake’s taste. We then stripped all the walls ourselves with the help of our friends so it was all ready for the builders to damp proof and plaster.

As you can see it’s all been knocked to the brick so the men can plaster it smooth for now this is all I can really show you guys but I promise another home update as soon as I have more to share!
