Freakshakes at Barley and Beans

It seems everywhere has gone milkshake crazy these days, does no one remember the good old fashioned fruit shoot?!

These days, it seems the bigger and more luxurious you can get it, the better! Hence why so many places are now doing ‘freak shakes’ these milkshakes don’t taste absolutely amazing but they’re also stacked up ridiculously high with extra goodies such as brownie pieces, waffles, vanilla slices WTF?!

Anyway, me, the boyfriend and his little sister all decided to check these bad boys out. I found a little place in Liverpool which apparently did the best freakshakes known to man and with the address put into my google maps we set off on our ‘freaky’ adventure.

The place was called Barley and Beans, a popular new cafe come restaurant which was in Hatton Gardens, a really up and coming trendy food area situated just off Dale Street, which in my opinion is one of the prettiest streets in the City Centre. Hatton Gardens used to well known for its amazing Friends Central Perk replica cafe however when that sadly closed down earlier this year, Barley and Beans became the new hotshot in town.

I ordered the Peanut Butter Milkshake, whilst the other half ordered the Salted Caramel and his little sister order the Strawberry Shortcake. We were left open mouthed as we watched them place more and more cakes on top of our already huge milkshakes. Yep, it was true…these weren’t milkshakes they were most definitely Freakshakes!

They tasted absolutely incredible and the cakes were pretty scrumptious too! The only thing was they were so bloody big I couldn’t finish! If you guys do end up going to Barley and Beans you need to try one of these they’re pretty epic.
