This is a blog post I’ve wanted to write for quite a while and I don’t want to give readers of my blog the wrong impression so I thought it was best to do this blog now.
As you can see I advocate a balanced and healthy approach to eating yet as you see I still go out for decadent meals and drink. From my last blog post you saw me eating donuts, pizza, chips etc and I know it looks like I’m saying one thing and doing another but let me explain.
At the moment I stick to a 80/20 rule, which is eating healthy 80% of the time and allowing yourself treats 20% of the time. That way, I can’t deprive myself of something I want for weeks on end only to pig out on it and end up back where I started.
For me, balance is about letting yourself have them days were you can treat yourself to a little of something you fancy without going overboard. The hardest thing is learning when to stop, and that’s the stage I’m currently at on my balanced journey.
For example, I ate loads of yummy food at the weekend. I actually had a donut for breakfast, but I only had the one and I was happy with that! I also shared the pizza I had with my boyfriend and the chips. I think controlling your portion sizes is key to a healthy and balanced diet. However, I do not limit the amount of fruit and veg I eat. If anything I believe the more the better!
