Now, lets do what we do best in this blog and bundle together the best of the week with my attempts at living a healthier lifestyle.
Attempts at Eating Healthier
For this week, its been a rollercoaster of highs and lows at work meaning some days I come home and want to eat all the celery and other days I’ve craved all the chocolate! Rather than tucking into a fat bar of Cadbury’s Dairy Milk I’ve been reaching for something a teeny bit healthier and that is the Lindt Dark Chocolate in Chilli. This little gem is perfect for soothing my raging sweet tooth as I still get some coco goodness and its not as bad for me!
This week has seen me really start taking my abs mission to another level so I’ve been making a huge effort to eat a lot more protein and less carbs after a gym sesh. For example, after Wednesdays session with the bosu ball I went home and had poached eggs with crushed avocado, red onion and tomato. Excuse me for lack of presentation skills here I was just so darn hungry!
Of course, on them days when I’ve come in from work feeling deflated and drained, alls I want is a sweet treat so last night I indulged in a cheeky hot chocolate. It was one of them hot chocolate sticks were you stir the chocolate block into warm milk and it turns the milk chocolatey in front of your eyes. It tasted lovely and was only about 100 calories so I felt a bit better about having it. I find sweet drinks really soothe me after a long day, especially hot chocolate.
Attempts at being Fitter
As I’ve already said this week I’ve really started making head way with my abs routine. I’ve started turning my gym workouts into more sort of interval training style workouts as I discovered the bets way to get rid of spare tummy fat is through workouts which switch between minutes of high intensity and minutes of low intensity. This usually means I start my workouts with a fifteen minute warm up on the treadmill were I switch between minutes of fast walking, jogging and sprinting. This gets my heart rate really up and gets the blood pumping around for the whole gym session. In terms of my abs I do a workout that switches between high intensity ab moves (weighted Russian twists, leg raises) low intensity ab moves (knee crunches, reverse crunches) and the occasional high intensity cardio moves (such as jumping jacks, box jumps, or a high knee jog). All this combined gives me a good workout and really works them abs!
This week I’ve been practising what I preach and painting my face in five minutes thanks to my quick and simple routine that I wrote about in my blog post, The Five Minute Face. However, on Thursday I found myself running ridiculously late and therefore had to bare all bare faced (you get it?)
I must say I learnt to appreciate my natural skin a hell of a lot more although I also discovered how much I depend on my precious concealer to make me look alive in the mornings!
Have a great weekend guys!
