And that also means its time for me to bundle together my beauty loves, my attempts at living a healthier and fitter lifestyle and generally what I’ve been up to in the week.
This week has seen me pretty much glued to my laptop in order to counteract the damage of my very over-indulgent weekend in Birmingham. I’ve finally organised myself so I can become one hell of a more organised blogger. I’ve even decided to start doing blogs on the weekend. So I hope you guys like em!
At the start of the week I purchased a diary to organise my blogging and in general, my life a bit more. I gotta tell you, I feel like I’m on a role! However, I have kinda turned it into pages of never ending lists that I need to tick off, so swings and roundabouts.
I’ve also been doing a lot more research and writing in preparation for my online Script-writing course which starts at the end of February. I’m really excited for this course as it looks really interesting, I did complete a similar course when I was at university but that was a lot more stressful as at the time I had to juggle it with the already huge uni workload, my part-time job and my other commitments at uni (hey, being a student is hard!)
Make Up I’m loving
This probably comes at no surprise if you’ve read my other blogs this week but I’m a teeny bit obsessed with Charlotte Tilbury at the moment. From the sophisticated and stylish packaging that her products come in to the actual product, Charl knows her shiz when it comes to make up. Although I don’t really wear that much make up in the week when I’m just working, I must admit I have worn my new Matte Revolution lipstick in the shade Amazing Grace a fair bit. This colour is sort of like a dull pink, which some might think is a bit too bright for February but I am absolutely in love with it. However, I would advise that you’re best applying it with a lip brush for best results.
Attempts at Being Healthy
I think I’ve been quite successful with healthy eating this week. Partially thanks to my very self conscious and bloated stomach (thank you alcohol, thank you very much!) Nevertheless, after discovering health and exercise blogger, Carly Rowena I’ve been taking inspiration from her healthy meal ideas for a flat stomach. I’ve gotta say the Halloumi and Stir Fried Vegetables we had for tea on Tuesday Night was beautiful, so cheers Carly!I pinky promise to work harder on my food presentation next week guys!
Her healthy eating guide is pretty simple to follow and even allows for a cheeky bit of chocolate (dark, of course). In terms of snacking I’ve been sticking to my favourite Pitta Chips and Oven Roasted Chickpeas, because Carly recommends that sort of thing as well. If anyone is interested in Carly’s blog or YouTube channel then I’ll link both of them at the bottom.
This week I also tried a recipe from The Minimalist Baker Blog called Spicy Buffalo Chickpea Wraps. I didn’t follow the recipe to the exact letter, just kinda used it for inspiration. For example, we didn’t have hummus in so we used vegan Mayo and we didn’t have the hot sauce so we used Nando’s hot peri peri sauce instead. We kept the basics the same though and the result was surprisingly tasty. I gotta tell you I’m really getting into healthy eating (only in the week though, still love some pizza on a Saturday!). Still, when I fancied something a little sweeter (what can I say? I’m on my period!) I attempted a really interesting chocolate cake recipe that used no dairy products at all (so technically its healthy, right?) and although it used rather peculiar ingredients (vinegar) the end result was a tasty, rich and delicious chocolate cake! It was that good, I’m gonna put the recipe in its own little blog post on Saturday.
Attempts at Being Fitter
This week my circuits class was cancelled so a few of us attempted a workout routine by Kayla Itsines. An Australian Personal Trainer whose made quite a name for herself in the workout world. If you’re interested in her workout guides I’ll leave a link below. The workouts usually work like a circuit which you do over and over again for seven minutes. Quite impressively we did about three different workouts. They were pretty intense but I missed the whole aspect of having somebody instruct you during a class. Needless to say, when it comes to exercise I need the extra motivation of someone yelling at me.
On Wednesday I went back to my boxing class and on Thursday I gave spinning another go. Boxing was pretty intense this week so I could really feel it after the class. That’s the main reason I love it so much, it’s intense and works your body HARD! We usually do a mixture of boxing, shuttle runs and circuit style exercises so by the end of the class you really get a sense of satisfaction or overwhelming pain. Personally, boxing is my favourite type of exercise and if I was only allowed to choose one type of exercise for the rest of my life it would have to be it. It was only my second ever spinning class on Thursday Night so I was still a bit slow to start off, I love the atmosphere in the spin class though. Its run by the same woman who does my boxing class and she knows how to push you. Unlike other classes, the instructor turns the lights off, puts a disco ball in the middle of room and plays some pumping tunes, turning the class into a kind of disco or party. Well, If I’m gonna sweat might as well do it by a disco ball…
I’m so excited for this weekend because me and the other half are having a little date night! We’ve never really done any date nights before, but with us living with his parents now I think we’ve kinda started making a bit more of an effort, just to have a night out alone once a fortnight or something. We’re going out for Mexican food and then seeing a film I think (nothing too crazy!) although I do feel an little argument will take place as I really want to see Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and he really wants to see Dad’s Army. I’ll let you know who won on Monday!
