The Christmas Beauty Gift Set Review

Now, there are a few bonuses about being really into beauty products. One of these is at Christmas when the shelves of Boots, Superdrug and any other high street store is filled with Beauty gift sets on offer so family members and friends buy in bulk thinking they’re the perfect Christmas gift for a female friend or relative. Some girls leave these beauties to gather dust at the back of their closet whilst I, on the other hand separate them out into different categories and plan when to use them. I LOVE getting sets at Christmas (I actually haven’t bought any shower gel since Christmas, I have like six to use from Christmas presents). So prepare for a little review my friends….

Now I’m a huge fan of any Lush product, if it smells amazing its mine. A tradition between me and my boyfriend is that he buys me a few lush products. This year, in homage to our first Christmas as a couple he got me the American Cream Shampoo (the same one he got me our first Christmas, aww). This Shampoo smells so sweet and with vanilla extract its almost too sweet to use. But it leaves your hair smelling gorgeous and feeling so soft! I also got the Butterbear Bath Bomb which is one of my favourite bath bombs they sell. Nothing relaxes me more than watching them gently fizz in the water.

 Soap and Glory

Oh the good old Soap and Glory reminding me of my teenage years when the only shower gel I used was Clean on Me and I was madly in love with the The Scrub of your Life Body buffer. Those were the days! At Christmas, I was given two (yes, I repeat TWO) Soap and Glory Gift Sets. One was the shower gel with a shower scrubber and the other was a box filled with goodies such as my favourite shower gel and scrub, The Righteous Butter Body Moisturizer and the Hand Food Hydrating Hand Cream. Not going to lie, I still love Soap and Glory Products just as much as I did when I was sixteen. However, if there’s one thing I have grown out of its the sickly sweet smell which does prove to be a tad too overwhelming at times.

 Bumble and Bumble

Now for a while, I’ve been loving having wavy hair. It just seems to perfectly suit my hair length and frame my face. I got the Bumble and Bumble Surf Hair Set for Christmas off my Boyfriend. I’m not going to lie this product both has its pro’s and con’s in equal measure. In the set you get a small shampoo and conditioner and a full sized Surf spray. The salt in both the Shampoo and Conditioner mean you can just leave your hair and it will naturally go wavy. However, if you want a more stylized wave that lasts a bit longer than a meal or night out than you also get a styling spray. Please whatever you do, DO NOT use more than one spray with this product. I might have used quite a few sprays and that meant my hair went a little….stiff. Eurgh! Don’t get me wrong the Shampoo and Conditioner work well together and create really natural waves when not used with any other products, it also really helps that they smell amazing! However, if you want a long lasting wave make sure you shop around for a better quality wave making spray.

 The White Collection from Next

I got this set from a family friend, it’s from Next and came in a pretty box. The set is all different scents and flavours (if that’s the right word) meaning you can have a bit of variety each shower. The cotton camomile body wash is a little too over fragranced for my liking but the Reviving Mandarin is just zesty enough. The set is good with it having both a body wash and the lotion, however I think it’s more suitable for a more middle aged woman than me.

 Lynx Attract for Her

You can’t really go wrong with the Lynx Set. Its brilliant as a small stocking filler for any girl at Christmas. The set includes a Lynx Deodorant and a shower gel. I’m a huge fan of Lynx deodorant (sometimes I even nab a bit of my boyfriends) so I was thrilled when they finally brought a product out for girls. Every Christmas since its release my boyfriends mum has bought me and his sister the gift set. The shower gel is refreshing for those tired mornings when you can barely open up your eyes without any overwhelming scent to make you cough your throat off in the shower. The deodorant has been the same for a few years now, a sweet yet still very Lynx-ish scent. Nevertheless, I’ll still pinch some of the boyfriends (they just don’t give us girls much choice!)

 Umberto Giannini Glam Hair

This gift set was a total surprise gift off my dad. All the sprays smell exactly how you’d expect high quality hair products at salon to smell. However, the problem with multi product gift sets is of course not all products will be your cup of tea. In terms of what I personally like, there’s only two products I probably won’t be using, that is the Glitter Spray in both Silver and Gold. Everything else will be used at some point as there’s Extreme Hold Hairspray, Backcomb in a Bottle, Elevate Massive Mousse and Volumising Dry Shampoo. All very handy products, and who knows if I end up going to a 80’s themed party I could even use the Glitter Spray! The weirdest thing about this set is the two nail varnish colours that come with it. Although, the black one will come in handy, the pink one may be at the back of the drawer until the summer!
